Some of the UC Berkeley Library’s services will be disrupted Jan. 2-3, 2021, because of electrical upgrades.

The upgrades, which will occur over UC Berkeley’s winter break, are planned for the campus’s Data Center, housed in Warren Hall. The work will require an outage of services hosted at the center, including some Library services.

The outage is tentatively expected to last from 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, through 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3.

Here’s what will — and won’t — be available during the outage.

The Library services that won’t be available include:

  • OskiCat (the Library’s online catalog).
  • Connecting from off campus using EZproxy (Library Proxy). Patrons can connect to Library resources via VPN by using the Gateway: Library Access and Full Tunnel.
  • Interlibrary loan request forms.
  • Interlibrary loan, document delivery, and requests via Melvyl.
  • Northern Regional Library Facility electronic copy request form.
  • The Library’s hours page.
  • The Library’s staff directory.

The services that will be available include:

  • The Library’s website (except for the hours page and staff directory).
  • Library News, Update, and Stories.
  • Start your search, on the Library’s homepage (minus the “View in OskiCat” option).
  • Databases, e-journals, and website search (from the Library’s homepage).
  • Library Guides, LibCal, LibChat, and LibAnswers.
  • Digital Collections.
  • Aeon (for requesting materials from The Bancroft Library).
