Watch: Campus conversation lays groundwork for a reimagined Moffitt Library

What does the future of Moffitt Library look like?

This spring, campus leaders met on Moffitt’s fourth floor for three workshops. The goal? To envision a new chapter for the library. The ideas that flowed from those efforts will serve as the groundwork for the design process as Moffitt completes its transformation into a cutting-edge hub of innovation, creativity, and collaboration — the Center for Connected Learning.

During the sessions, members of the UC Berkeley community — including faculty, students, and staff, from the Library and across campus — unleashed their creativity and articulated their visions for the space. Weaving throughout the sessions were themes of discovery, sharing knowledge, working together, and shattering the barriers that too often hold undergraduates back from accessing the people and tools they need to thrive, learn, and grow.

“A deep learning experience here means crossing all kinds of boundaries on campus,” said Sean Burns, the director of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarships, one of the on-campus partners joining the conversation. “So I want us and this space to facilitate that kind of belonging and interconnection.”

Here’s a quick summary of our findings.
