Professor Julia Bryan-Wilson Publishes New Book: “Fray: Art and Textile Politics”

Fray: Art and Textile Politics

Professor Julia Bryan-Wilson publishes a new book, Fray: Art and Textile Politics, due out in September from the University of Chicago Press.

From the University of Chicago Press website:

“The first contemporary art history book to discuss both fine art and amateur registers of handmaking at such an expansive scale, Fray unveils crucial insights into how textiles inhabit the broad space between artistic and political poles—high and low, untrained and highly skilled, conformist and disobedient, craft and art.”

Join Julia Bryan-Wilson as she launches her new book Fray: Art and Textile Politics (University of Chicago, 2017), in conversation with artist Angela Hennessy and art historian Richard Meyer. Thurs. Sept. 7 at 5:15pm at the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive.
